Is the ATI radeon HD 4870 the same as a Sapphire 4870 despite being from different companies?
Also i would like to know if the pin/ other specifications are the same and its just the company name thats been changed.
Sapphire Technologies Limited is one of the many manufacturers of the Radeon HD 4870. They all use the same Chip..but some minor differences such as the Heatsink. Overall though you can expect to get top notch performance out of any one of these cards. AMD is the manufacturer of the chip...ATI is owned by AMD. If you will notice...that ATI is not listed as a manufacturer of the Radeon HD 4870 in Newegg.com
In my own opinion...I prefer to use Sapphire Cards in my systems and i have been using them since i bought my Radeon 9600XT.
With that having been said...the only one that would stand out to me from a performance standpoint is the XFX HD-487A-CDF9...but only because of the Massive 512Bit - 2GB Video Memory
